Daily Itinerary:

Gathering Night- August 12 (D)
  • Travelers departing from INDIANA, ILLINOIS, IOWA or WISCONSIN take advantage of a transfer to our ‘gathering overnight’ hotel - Aspen Suites in Rochester, MN. 
  • For those spending the gathering overnight at the Rochester, MN hotel, get acquainted with fellow travelers and your tour manager. Enjoy an included dinner at Canadian Honker Restaurant that evening and a complimentary breakfast the following morning

Day 1- August 13 (B,D)
  • Our first stop on the tour will include some tasty treats at the SPAM Museum, where we’ll also enjoy an inclusive tour
  • Welcome to Mitchell, SD, home of “The World's Only Corn Palace.” Each year the Corn Palace is decorated with two to three thousand bushels of corn, grain and grasses
  • Prior to a restful overnight at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Mitchell we’ll enjoy dinner together

Day 2- August 14 (B)
  • Continuing west, we’ll make a stop at Wall Drug for some FREE water and lunch on your own
  • The rest of the afternoon and evening are free for you to explore Deadwood as we begin the first of three nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Deadwood SD

Day 3- August 15 (B,D)
  • This morning we will meet our step-on guide
  • With our visit to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, we'll discover the reasons why these four Presidents were selected for the carving
  • Not something you would do every day, but you will today - search for buffalo herds on a jeep ride through Custer State Park
  • Our visit to the Crazy Horse Memorial will truly be an awe-inspiring stop. Upon construction completion, this Memorial will show Crazy Horse, an Oglala Lakota warrior, atop his horse pointing into the distance
  • We’ll enjoy dinner together this evening surrounded by nature’s beauty

Day 4- August 16 (B)
  • Our 1880 Train ride will provide us scenic views as well as some good old-fashioned fun!
  • Journeying east, we’ll enjoy one of nature’s true wonders, Badlands National Park, once described as “Hell, with the fires burned out”. Keep your camera ready for awe-inspiring sights

Day 5- August 17 (B,D)
  • Heading south, we’ll start our day with a guided tour of The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, home to prehistoric fossil excavations with hands-on exhibits
  • Continuing to Nebraska, we’ll visit Chimney Rock National Historic Site, an important landmark along the mid-19th century Oregon Trail
  • Our dinner together tonight will be enjoyed at a local Ogallala restaurant prior to turning in at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Day 6- August 18 (B,L,D)
  • We continue our journey to The Archway, a tribute to the American spirit of adventure, when brave 19th century pioneers moved to settle this wild land
  • We’ll enjoy a lunch together at The Archway
  • Welcome to Iowa and the beautiful city of West Des Moines!
  • Prior to a restful overnight at the Hyatt Place, we’ll enjoy dinner together

Day 7- August 19 (B)
  • We return to our departure locations with wonderful memories, unique personal photos and tales of your adventure to share with family and friends!
