Daily Itinerary:

Gathering Day - October 20
  • Travelers departing from IOWA, MINNESOTA, WISCONSIN or ILLINOIS, take advantage of a transfer to our ‘gathering overnight’ hotel in Mishawaka, IN. 

Day 1- October 21 (B,D)
  • Sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful Ohio farmlands and the rolling hills and forests of Pennsylvania
  • We’ll enjoy dinner together prior to a restful first night of our two-night stay at Best Western Hotel-Gettysburg, PA

Day 2- October 22 (B,L)
  • We start our day at the Gettysburg Visitor’s Center and Cyclorama. A captivating must-see is the 377’ by 42’ canvas painting depicting the third day battle of Pickett’s Charge
  • On our guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield, we’ll learn about the clash that took place. The ultimate Northern victory here gave the Union forces a much-needed morale lift and ended General Lee’s plan to invade the North
  • We’ll enjoy lunch at General Pickett’s Buffet
  • The rest of the day is yours to explore and have dinner on your own

Day 3- October 23 (B,D)
  • Entering the Shenandoah Mountain Skyline Drive through the Front Royal Entrance Station promises beautiful vistas, along with photo stops at Dickey Ridge Visitor Center and Big Hogsback Overlook
  • The story of one of our Nation’s Founding Fathers comes alive at Monticello, the historic home and primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson
  • Continuing on, we arrive in Williamsburg - known worldwide as the principal center for conserving and interpreting American colonial history
  • After dinner together, we’ll settle in for the first night of our two-night stay at the SpringHill Suites-Williamsburg VA

Day 4- October 24 (B)
  • We’ll start our day with a visit to Jamestown Settlement, a living history museum that includes a re-creation of the original fort
  • The rest of the day and evening is yours in Colonial Williamsburg. There’s something for all to enjoy, including taking part in hands-on activities, taking guided tours of the original 18th century buildings, viewing its unmatched folk art collection, and MORE

Day 5- October 25 (B)
  • To start our day, we will visit the National Museum of the United States Army. This museum celebrates over 245 years of Army history and honors our nation’s soldiers, past, present and future
  • Arriving in the Washington, D.C. area, our first stop will be the Marine Corps War Memorial, dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives for our country since 1775
  • A tour highlight, and sure to be one of our treasured memories, is a tour of Arlington National Cemetery including the Changing of the Guard Ceremony
  • Enjoy dining on your own this evening, followed by an evening stroll of the Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., Korean and Lincoln Memorials
  • Our home-away-from-home for the next three nights is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town-Alexandria VA

Day 6- October 26 (B,D)
  • We’ll start our day with a U.S. Capitol tour - the legislative branch seat of the United States federal government
  • The Smithsonian Museum Complex holds over 155 million artifacts in trust for the American people. This afternoon, you may choose from three museums for your exploration: Smithsonian National Air & Space, National Museum of the American Indian, or Smithsonian National Museum of African Art
  • We’ll dine together this evening in Washington D.C. to be followed with an evening event

Day 7- October 27 (B)
  • Strolling through the White House neighborhood is a perfect way to greet a day when in Washington D.C.
  • We’ve enjoyed Washington D.C. Memorials at night, we’ll now make daytime visits to the Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, the Reflecting Pool and World War II Memorial
  • Together, we’ll arrive for a self-guided tour of the Holocaust Museum – a living memorial to the victims of the Holocaust
  • Again, you may choose the Smithsonian Museum to visit that best suit your interests: National Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Art, or National Museum of American History
  • Enjoy a free evening in Old Town to dine on your own

Day 8- October 28 (B,L,D)
  • Touring George and Martha Washington’s historic Mount Vernon home will start our day. To maximize our tour time here, a box lunch is included for our enjoyment
  • Our dinner together this evening will be a wonderful time to share tour highlights with each other prior to our restful overnight at Hampton Inn - Somerset PA

Day 9- October 29 (B)
  • Today, we start our travels home
  • Visiting the Flight 93 National Memorial will surely bring back memories of September 11, 2001. This area, once a common field, is now a field of honor
  • Travelers departing the tour in INDIANA, ILLINOIS and WISCONSIN welcome back to your departure locations!
