Daily Itinerary:

Gathering Night- August 15
  • Group air transportation is included. If group air is not taken, meet the group at the Portland airport on August 16, 2023 to begin the tour. Please make sure to schedule your flight to arrive prior to the start of the tour
  • Travelers purchasing the group air package departing from ILLINOIS and WISCONSIN can either arrive on your own in the Chicagoland area for a complimentary overnight; or choose to wait and join the group on August 16 with home pick up
  • For those spending the night at the Chicagoland hotel, get acquainted with fellow travelers and your tour manager and enjoy a complimentary breakfast the following morning

DAY 1- August 16 (B,D)
  • A wonderful introduction to Portland! We’ll enjoy a freshly prepared and locally sourced meal aboard a Portland Spirit Cruises & Events dinner cruise featuring live piano music and the captain’s historical narration of Portland waterways sites
  • After our cruise, we’ll check in for the first of our two-night stay at Hotel Rose, conveniently located downtown and known for its genuine hospitality

DAY 2- August 17 (B)
  • Oregon is noted for its natural beauty! We’ll experience some of its natural beauty today with visits to Multnomah Falls (the highest waterfall on the Columbia River Gorge) and Gorge Waterfalls. All are recognized as the best places to experience the scenic wonder of Oregon and are amongst the most visited natural recreation sites in the Pacific Northwest
  • Our next stop will be at the Bonneville Lock & Dam. In the 1930s, its unique engineering design provided jobs during the Great Depression. It continues today to be an important water management resource
  • Oregon is also noted for its wine! Today, while surrounded by Oregon's vast natural beauty, we’ll enjoy wine produced from some locally grown grapes
  • Upon our arrival to Hood River, we’ll have free time to explore its beautiful downtown area filled with a unique collection of retailers and enjoy lunch on our own
  • Tonight, enjoy free time to explore and dine on your own at one of the diverse restaurants close to our hotel

DAY 3- August 18 (B,L,D)
  • We start our day with a scenic drive to Newport
  • The Newport community is also home to Yaquina Lighthouse, Oregon’s tallest light house. We’ll view this beacon of the night that has guided ships since its first lighting on August 20, 1873
  • A self-described “Floating Adventure”, we’ll enjoy a 2-hour Sea Life Cruise with an onboard naturalist guide that will also include lunch. While being surrounded by stunning scenery, we’ll be on the lookout for whales, porpoise, seals, sea lions, pelicans, bald eagles, along with an abundance of marine birds
  • Tonight, a special treat – a seafood dinner at a local restaurant!
  • Our overnight tonight will be at the Hallmark Resort Hotel-Newport where all rooms offer oceanfront views

DAY 4- August 19 (B,D)
  • Our day starts with a visit to Florence – known for its rolling sand dunes, and miles of beaches
  • A truly unique visit awaits us at Sea Lion Caves - a privately owned wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary. If we are lucky, we may catch a glimpse of sea lions in the Caves or along the rocky shores
  • An exciting and scenic way to see Oregon’s sand dunes. We’ll experience the fun first-hand with a Giant Dune Buggy ride
  • Our next stop takes us to Coos Bay, a bayside community steeped in charm and history
  • Cape Argo was used by Native Americans and early Europeans. While there, we’ll scan the horizons for whales as well as other marine mammals
  • Tonight, another special dining experience – a traditional Native Salmon Bake dinner prior to our overnight stay at The Mill Casino Hotel-North Bend

DAY 5- August 20 (B,L)
  • Our travels continue to Ashland, ranked in the top 10 of “The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America”
  • A truly memorable highlight of this tour - a 4-hour Hellgate Jetboat Excursion! We’ll enjoy a narrated adventure filled with stunning views of the legendary Hellgate Canyon concluding with a champagne brunch at the exclusive Hellgate River Lodge Restaurant
  • Ashland is also the Home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This afternoon, we’ll enjoy a performance
  • Following the performance, enjoy the evening at your leisure prior to a restful overnight at the Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites

DAY 6- August 21 (B)
  • Sit back and enjoy the view as we make our way to Crater Lake – a volcanic crater lake
  • On our 7-hour Naturalist Guided Crater Lake Adventure Tour, we’re in for an immersive experience where we’ll see a large portion of southern Oregon highlighted by spectacular views
  • Prior to a restful night at the Fairfield Inn & Suites-Bend Downtown, enjoy exploring Bend, a nature’s lover paradise with dinner on your own

DAY 7- August 22 (B)
  • We bid a fond farewell to the beautiful state of Oregon as we start our journey home
  • For those travelers who purchased the group air package, upon disembarking from the plane at Chicago O’Hare, you will be greeted by your transfer driver for your return trip to your chosen tour departure location
  • You return home with wonderful memories, unique personal photos and tales of your adventure to share with family and friends
