Gathering Day- June 11

Travelers departing from IOWA and MINNESOTA, take advantage of a transfer to our ‘gathering overnight’ hotel in the Chicagoland area. All remaining travelers can either arrive on your own in the Chicagoland area for a complimentary ‘gathering overnight’; or choose to wait and join the group on September 12 from one of our identified Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana pick-up locations
For those spending the gathering overnight at the Chicagoland hotel, get acquainted with fellow travelers and your tour manager

DAY 1- June 12

This morning, travelers departing from WISCONSIN, ILLINOIS & INDIANA join the tour
Sit back and enjoy scenic landscapes as we travel through Michigan to Bay City, a relaxed and welcoming waterfront town located near the base of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron
Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of Bay City
Prior to turning in for the evening at the DoubleTree, we’ll enjoy dinner together- Doubletree Hotel - Bay City, MI (D)

DAY 2- June 13

Chosen as a National Historic Landmark in 1989, the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio is noted as an “oasis of architecture and inspiration”. With its “reflective light, soaring roof lines, diverging angles, brilliant color and the perfect balance of enticement and tranquility” it is as unique as its creator. [https://www.abdow.org/]
Welcome aboard! We’ll cross the Straits of Mackinac aboard Shepler’s Ferry to Mackinac Island, known as the “Bermuda of the North”
We’ll delight in dinner together prior to turning in at the Lake View Hotel, our home-away-from-home for two nights. Take some time to enjoy the front porch rocking chairs. They are the perfect place to appreciate the view and people watch. Lakeview Hotel - Mackinac Island, MI (B, D)

DAY 3- June 14

Island history comes alive as we enjoy the clip-clopping of horses’ hooves on a guide-narrated horse-drawn carriage ride
An event in and of itself, our Grand Hotel Buffet lunch features “garden-fresh salads, savory cheeses, slow-roasted meats, seafood and a wide selection of fruits and fresh-baked desserts made daily.” [Tip: You may also want to enjoy an after-lunch rocking chair on the “world’s largest porch”]

DAY 4- June 15

As we start our journey home, sit back, relax and enjoy the passing views while sharing your trip highlights with your fellow travel mates
