Daily Itinerary:

DAY 1- August 7
  • Your adventure begins! Sit back and relax on your ride to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport for your overnight flight to London’s Heathrow Airport

DAY 2- August 8 (D)
  • Upon your arrival in Heathrow, we meet our guide and travel west towards the ancient Roman City of Bath for our walking tour
  • With its ties to Jane Austen and other literary figures, Bath has been the location for many period dramas and series – most recently the Netflix TV series Bridgerton
  • We’ll visit the famous Roman Bathhouse where Roman settlers soaked in “treatment” from its Thermal Waters
  • The remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax and explore the town at your leisure
  • Tonight, we’ll gather together for a welcome cocktail and dinner in our hotel

DAY 3- August 9 (B)
  • We start the day with another one of our tour highlights – a visit to Highclere Castle, better known to many of us as Downton Abbey
  • After our entrance to the Castle, we’ll enjoy some time to explore the Castle grounds and soak up the ambiance. During your free time, should you wish, you may want to enjoy various tearooms for coffees, lunches, and teas, as well as the popular gift shop and gardens
  • Highclere Castle, while made famous as Downton Abbey, is the actual home of the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon and has some interesting history all on its own. The 5th Earl of Carnarvon helped to discover the Tomb of the Egyptian Boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, in 1922 with his archaeological colleague, Howard Carter. To honor their ancestor’s accomplishments, the 8th Earl and Countess have opened a new Egyptian Exhibition throughout the Castle’s cellars
  • After a day of touring, you’ll have a free evening to enjoy a relaxing meal on your own in Bath

DAY 4- August 10 (B, Tea Time)
  • More English history awaits us at Berkeley Castle. The Castle, built in 1153, it has been home to 27 generations of the Berkeley family who still call it home today
  • With our visit, we’ll travel through time - from the “Keep” with its dungeon and the cell where Edward II is said to have been murdered, to the “Drawing Rooms” with their superb silver, paintings from the 16th- 20th centuries, fine furniture, a unique spider's-web ceiling and chandeliers
  • We’ll discover tales of the colorful Berkeley family, who were involved in many major events in England's history. You can make up your own mind about the love story involving Mary Cole and the 5th Earl of Berkeley; and find out which play Shakespeare wrote for a Berkeley family wedding
  • A special treat! Tea & scones with Charles Berkeley, heir of Berkeley Castle
  • While on our return to Bath, we’ll enjoy some free time in the quaint village of Malmesbury. While here, you may wish to explore Malmesbury Abbey
  • Enjoy a free evening to further explore Bath and dine on your own

DAY 5- August 11 (B)
  • What a way to start our day – Stonehenge, one of the world’s most famous sites. Dating back to about 3100 BC, Stonehenge is composed of a circular setting of large standing stones set within earthworks
  • No visit to England would be complete without a visit to Windsor Castle – the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world and the official residence of Her Majesty The Queen. With our visit, we’ll take special note as to whether the “standard” flies from the Round Tower – if it does, The Queen is in residence
  • After our hotel check-in, enjoy a free night in London to explore and dine on your own

DAY 6- August 12 (B)
  • London is the site of many stunning and historic building – however, none is more stunning than Buckingham Palace with its priceless works of art, fine furniture, and decorations that form part of the Royal Collection. • After a full day of exploring London, we’ll gather together for a “sharing of tour highlights” dinner
