DAY 1 THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16
This tour has been designed for a small group. Along with our Fancy-Free Holidays Tour Manager, we fly to New York City and meet our locally licensed guide and luxury motor coach. Our home for the next 3 nights is The Millennium Broadway, an excellent 4-star hotel perfectly located in Times Square near all the theaters, Rockefeller Center, Good Morning America and much more. We check into our hotel and discover Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue and much more on a walking tour with our guide. One of the best ways to say “hello” to the Big Apple is atop 30 Rock – at the Top of the Rock. This 70th floor indoor/outdoor observation deck offers magnificent views of all of NY – from the Statue of Liberty to Yankee stadium, from NJ and the Hudson River to Long Island, and stunning up-close views of the Empire State Building.
Then, a special treat as we visit a rehearsal room in the Theater District to privately meet with an actor from a Broadway Show. Here we will have an hour session with stories about life as a Broadway actor, the show they are working in and she/he will sing a number or two.
Time to refresh at our hotel and then stroll one block to famous Carmine’s restaurant. The lively, and festive Italian eatery serves fantastic and plentiful food family-style creating a wonderful atmosphere for getting to know your fellow travelers. Millenium Broadway Hotel - New York City (D)
DAY 2 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17
After our included breakfast, we meet our guide for a full day of touring. Lower Manhattan is today’s destination. Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street, The World Trade Center and so much more will be discovered.
The National 9/11 Memorial is a somber and yet magnificent homage to such a fateful day. Experience the Memorial and tour the entire area around the World Trade Center and St. Paul's Chapel with our guide giving more details about what transpired on 9/11 and the inspirational responses from New Yorkers.
Greenwich Village - for over 100 years, this small area below 14th Street and west of Broadway has been a Mecca to the creative, rebellious and Bohemian, as well as a destination for great food. We enjoy a walking food tour with tasting at 8 different mom-and-pop, locally-owned shops! It’s not only tasty, but a wonderful way to experience this classic NY neighborhood.
Time to refresh at our hotel before our evening activities. First, a carriage ride in Central Park and then dinner in Times Square at a comfortable oasis of home-style cooking - Langan’s.
This evening you will enjoy your pre-chosen choice of Broadway show with orchestra seating! The theaters are located near our restaurant and hotel, and you get to choose the one you’ve always wanted to see. (pending availability at time of choosing). DAY 3 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18
After our included breakfast we start our day of touring. Watch your step – this morning we are riding on a subway! Our guide will take us underground into the amazing labyrinth of the world’s best, most efficient public transportation system. Metrocards will be provided and our guide will carefully lead us downtown to Battery Park.
Battery Park is where we catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. We will catch the first ferry to Lady Liberty to allow us to have guaranteed access to the Pedestal of the Statue.
Then we are on Ellis Island – Island of Hope, Island of Tears. From 1892 to 1924, Ellis Island was America's largest and most active immigration station, where over 12 million immigrants were processed. We will have an audio tour to help enhance the dramatic stories.
Back in Manhattan, we have the rest of the day free! Our guide will help us plan our day and our metrocard will still be good for 3 more rides. Our guide will go back to the hotel with those who don’t want to ride alone. Millenium Broadway Hotel - New York City (B)
